The Mizo tribes have unique dishes prepared from green leaves to dried vegetables. Here are some of the exotic cuisines you should never miss in case you visit the state. (Please note that the names of dishes may vary from region to region as the Mizo tribes have several local dialects. Feel free to add local cousines or your own photos with headline and small caption).

1. Fragrant Dish (Uisa)

Some people may have the idea that having fragrant meat (dog meat) is totally cruel to the pet kingdom. But, the dish is famous across Mizoram. It is often cooked with a green leave called "phuinam" or those more adventurous ones prepared "uisa chartang" fry which is seasoned with lots of species like ginger, garlic, chilli and oil. You may not get it in the hotels, but locals often sell in the open market.

2. Ruotuoi Hro Sathu Hme (Dried Bamboo Shoot Curry)

This dish is particularly popular in the north eastern part of Mizoram. It is prepared from dried bamboo shoot, hot chilli with 'sathu' (fermented pork fat&fats) and local 'changal' (syrup prepared from ashes).
