Demand for Darlawn District gains momentum

Aizawl (Mizonews.Net): Darlawn District Demand Committee members yesterday convened a press conference at Aizawl Press Club and put forth their demand for a separate administrative setup.

Committee Chairman C.Thanthuama, Vice Chairman B.Thangkima and Secretary Lalnunpuia were present during an ineraction with the media.

Thanthuama said that their demand is base on the District Headquarters named Darlawn District since 1988. He said that their area eagerly is waiting for the time when they will receive the benefits of northern Mizoram.

The area comprises of 1500 Sq.Km, 41 villages, 40,000 people and 8,000 houses.

There are 24 villages in Tuivawl Constituency, 15 villages in Chalfilh Constituency; 2 villages in Serlui Constituency. “Comparing the area of Saiha District (1399 Sq.Km ), the Darlawn District area is smaller by 101 Sq Km,” he said.
